Verify Your Mental Health Benefits

Most insurance plans cover outpatient therapy and psychiatry, but copays, deductibles, and session limits vary widely. Before your first appointment we run a complimentary benefits check so you know exactly what your plan pays, and what you’ll pay, before you commit. Here’s how it works:

1

Tell us your insurer

Submit our short form, call (201) 731-8899, or email info@mentalcareplus.com with your member ID and date of birth.

2

We confirm your behavioral health benefits

Our billing team contacts your insurer to verify in-network status, copay or coinsurance, deductible balance, telehealth parity, and any pre-authorization requirements.

3

You book and we bill your insurer directly

We submit claims for you so there’s no out-of-network paperwork, no superbill chasing, and no surprise bills.

Out-of-Network Reimbursement Is Still an Option

If your insurer is not on the list above, you still have options. Most preferred-provider (PPO) plans include out-of-network mental health benefits that reimburse 50–80% of the session fee after an out-of-network deductible is met. After each session at Mental Care Plus you can request a HIPAA-compliant superbill (a detailed receipt with the diagnosis, CPT code, and our NPI) and submit it to your insurer for direct reimbursement.

We are happy to help you understand whether your specific plan offers OON coverage, what the deductible looks like, and how reimbursement is paid. Email info@mentalcareplus.com with your insurer name and we’ll walk you through it.

Self-Pay Rates and Financial Accessibility

Some clients prefer to self-pay, either because they don’t carry insurance, want to keep treatment off their medical record, or because their plan has a high deductible that hasn’t been met. We accept all major credit cards, HSA and FSA cards, cash, and electronic transfer. Sliding-scale appointments are available on a limited, case-by-case basis with our LCSW and LPC clinicians. Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

Prefer to call your insurance company yourself before booking? Here are the six questions that will tell you exactly what to expect at Mental Care Plus. Call the member-services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

  1. Do I have outpatient mental health benefits on this plan?
  2. What is my copay or coinsurance for in-network behavioral health, and has my deductible been met?
  3. Is pre-authorization required for routine outpatient therapy or psychiatric care?
  4. Are CPT codes 90791 (initial diagnostic), 90834 and 90837 (individual therapy), and 99214 (medication management) all covered as in-network?
  5. Is telehealth covered at parity with in-person sessions, and is the modifier 95 (or modifier GT) required on the claim?
  6. Is Mental Care Plus, NPI #1942848568, listed as in-network on my plan? (Substitute the NPI on file for the specific clinician you plan to see.)

Tip: Write down the representative’s name, the date and time of your call, and the reference number for the call. Those three details protect you if a claim is later denied in error.

Telehealth Therapy & Psychiatry, Covered by Every Plan We Accept

Every insurance carrier listed on this page covers telehealth therapy, psychiatry, and medication management at parity with in-person care, for residents anywhere in the state of New Jersey. Telehealth sessions are billed under the same psychotherapy and psychiatry CPT codes as in-office visits, with the modifier 95 (or modifier GT, depending on the carrier) attached to the claim. Telehealth visits at Mental Care Plus are conducted on a HIPAA-compliant, encrypted video platform, with no extra app downloads and no separate logins. If you live in Bergen County and prefer in-person, we are at 560 Sylvan Avenue, Suite 2115, Englewood Cliffs. If you’re farther afield, telehealth lets you see our clinicians without the commute.
